Surveyor José Higgins was meeting with several workers on July 23, 1947, in a field in the Goio-Bang Colony, near the town of Campina do Amoral, at the time part of the municipality of Pitanga, in Paraná, when they heard an extremely high-pitched hiss. After a few seconds they saw a large object of whitish-gray color that landed very close to the group.
Higgins’ colleagues were terrified and soon tried to leave, leaving him completely alone, who even in fear approached the object to examine it better.
He noticed that in the UFO there was a kind of window, where two human figures could be seen. Shortly after, a door opened from which three people came out of 2.10 meters tall. The beings wore transparent jumpsuits that covered their entire bodies, including their heads. The uniform they wore was swollen with air. On his back was a metal backpack. You could see that underneath the uniform were T-shirts, shorts, and sandals, which looked like they were made of shiny paper.
The beings had a strange appearance, with round and large eyes, round eyebrows, with apparently ordinary eyelashes, they were bald, without beard, with large and round heads, hands and long legs. In the object there was a third being and they were very similar to each other, looking like twins, and communicated through a sonorous and beautiful language, totally unknown. They moved with agility and lightness.
One of them carried a small metal tube, which he pointed to the witness, indicating that he should enter the device. One of the beings began to draw on the ground to indicate to Higgins where he would be taken. The design consisted of seven concentric circles. The alien pointed to the center point of the drawing saying, “Poplar” and then pointed to the seventh circle saying, “Orque,” the latter being the location where they would go. This has led some researchers to think that his place of origin might be the planet Uranus.
Higgins realized that the mysterious creatures were sensitive to sunlight, so he took cover in the sun and removed a photo of his wife that was in his wallet, saying through gestures that he wanted to pick her up. The aliens seemed to agree and so he hid in the woods, from where he began to observe the strange beings. Higgins noticed that the beings made giant leaps and threw large stones over enormous distances. Some time later, everyone got on the plane that took off, heading north.
The case had repercussions at the time and was news in some newspapers. In the newspaper Diário da Tarde, of August 8, 1947, we have the following transcription of the testimony of the witness José C. Higgins, the main witness in the case:
“I was, on July 23, to the west of the Goio-Bang Colony, which is northwest of Pitanga and southeast of Campo Mourão, carrying out some topographical work, when, as I crossed one of the rare open spaces in the region, a deep hiss, but below, made me get up and look at the sky. Then I saw something that made my hair stand on end: a strange aerial ship, circular in shape, with edges absolutely like those of a medicine capsule, descended from space. My men, all simple caboclos, fled terrified at what they were given to see. And I, I don’t know why, decided to stay, to wait for the events.
The strange apparatus traveled in a closed circle through the terrain and landed, meekly, about 50 meters from the place where I was. It was something surprising. It was approximately 30 meters in diameter apart from the edges, about one meter – and about 5 meters in total height. It was crossed by pipes in different directions, six of which allowed the aforementioned whistle to be heard, without, however, making smoke. The part that landed on the ground was provided with curved rods, which arched a little more when touching the ground. Altogether it seemed to be made of a white-gray metal, but different from silver.
While I was examining its whole, without however daring to touch the apparatus, I also noticed a wall showing a window provided with glass or something similar. I then saw two people who were examining me with an air of curiosity. These people, as I saw at first glance, were strange-looking. After a few seconds, one of them turned to the inside of the device and, it seems to me, talking to someone. Immediately, I heard a noise inside it and a door, under the edge, opened, giving way to three people, inside a kind of transparent overalls, which completely enveloped them, head and all, and which was swollen like a car inner tube, full of compressed air. On the back, they had a metal backpack, which seemed to me to be an integral part of the garment. Through this jumpsuit, I could perfectly see people dressed in T-shirts, shorts and sandals, not farm, I believe, but shiny paper.
I also noticed that his strange appearance was due to his very round, large eyes, and no eyebrows, although he had eyelashes and a very pronounced bald head. They had no beard and their heads were large and round and their legs longer than the proportions we know. And as for height, they were about thirty centimeters taller than me, who am six feet tall.
The most interesting thing is that they looked like twin brothers, both those in overalls and those who were at the window, behind the glass. One of them had a tube of the same metal as the device in his hand, a small tube, and pointed it at me. I noticed that they were talking to each other. He heard the words perfectly, and yet he understood nothing. They spoke a language that I had never heard, but beautiful and sonorous. Despite their large size, they moved with incredible agility and lightness, forming a triangle around me. The one holding the tube made gestures indicating that I should get into the apparatus. At this gesture, I approached the door and could only see a small cubicle, limited by another interior door and the end of a pipe coming from inside. I also noticed several round portholes, at the base of the protrusion or rim.
I started talking, asking where they wanted to take me with many gestures. They understood the gesticulation and what seemed to me the chief made a round dot on the floor surrounded by seven circles. Showing the sun in space, he pointed me to the seventh circle, pointing alternately to this circle and the apparatus. I was speechless with astonishment. Leave the world alive? It wasn’t me!
In view of this, I reflected. The fight was impossible for me, because they were stronger in physique and in numbers. I then had an idea. He had noticed that they avoided being in the sun. So I went to the shadow and, taking my wallet out of my pocket, showed him the portrait of my wife, telling them that I wanted to fetch her, by gestures. They didn’t stop me. I went out and, thanking God, I went into the woods, from where I watched them. They played like children, jumping and throwing stones of enormous size.
After half an hour or so, after looking closely at the surroundings, they retired to the apparatus, which rose into the air with the same hiss, heading north, rising until it disappeared into the clouds.
I will never know if they were men or women. However, I can say that, despite the characteristics I have pointed out, they are beautiful and appear to be in splendid health. On the other hand, it is difficult for me to translate his language into letters. However, I remember two words: “Alamo” and “Orque”, the former designating the Sun and the latter the seventh circle of the drawing. If I could be sure that I would return, God knows where I would be at this time!”
A researcher on the case, Gordon Greighton, analyzing the appearance of the object, commented that it had a lot of similarity with the artifact seen on Trindade Island, in January 1958. In both, the spacecraft was surrounded by a ring in its center, the typical “Saturn Shape”.
Another report that contains a similar ship is found in the Montequinto Case, which also occurred in 1947. The informant, a doctor from the Spanish Army of Land, was studying at a place known as Barriada de Montequinto. He heard a high-pitched noise and then observed a spherical object surrounded by a ring. It had a metallic appearance and rotated counterclockwise. Undoubtedly, a description very similar to that of Higgins and that of Trindade Island.
