In the early hours of October 4, 2015, around 5 am, the pilot of a private plane took off from Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, towards Curitiba.
According to the pilot, at a distance of five to ten kilometers from his aircraft, three lights appeared flashing red, blue, yellow and amber.
The lights were grouped together, but did not give the impression of being part of the same object. Every now and then they would distance themselves a little, and then come closer again.
The luminous object appeared to be stopped in the air and, according to the pilot’s report, it was overtaken by the plane and left behind, at an altitude of approximately 750 meters. The pilot said that the strange object also made no sound or noise.
The sighting lasted about five minutes.
According to the pilot’s report and that of a second witness who accompanied him on the flight, there was no chance that the flying object was a conventional aircraft such as a plane or helicopter.
When in doubt, the pilot informed the Cindacta 2 flight controllers, in the capital of Paraná, and, when he landed, he filled out the “Hotel Traffic Control Form”, the official registration document for UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) in brazilian territory, available at all airports in the country and on the internet by FAB (Brazilian Air Force).
A few months earlier, pilots on a Latam flight over the Manaus region also spotted strange lights. Weeks before that, it was the turn of Brazilian Air Force pilots and flight controllers to also see UFOs.
In 2015 alone, at least 15 incidents involving these objects were recorded across the country.
